A303 Andover Interchange Bridge, Hampshire

Client

Goodman Logistics

Project Description

This bridge carries three lanes of new highway to form part of a new gyratory improving access from the A303 to a development at the original Andover Airfield site. It is a fully integral single span structure constructed using a steel-concrete composite deck and reinforced concrete abutments founded directly on the underlying chalk. In addition to there being no bearings the deck steelwork is fabricated using weathering steel so that future maintenance requirements are minimised. The roadworks and new bridge had to be completed to coincide with the completion of a new distribution centre, a strict condition of the planning consent. Project also included a Cass hayward designed pedestrian subway.
